Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 49
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 49 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Salem County:
i. In the Township of Pennsville:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the beginning of Route NJ 49 at the New Jersey Turnpike underpass and 850 feet west of Church Landing Road (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 0.70); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between 850 feet west of Church Landing Road and Fort Mott Road (County Route 630), except with 25 MPH school speed zones in the Pennsville Memorial High School, Pennsville Christian Elementary School and the Pennsville Junior High School zones during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.70 to 3.44); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between Fort Mott Road (County Route 630) and Patterson Avenue (approximate mileposts 3.44 to 4.09); thence
(D) Zone 4: 50 MPH between Patterson Avenue and Goose Lane (approximate mileposts 4.09 to 5.09); thence
(E) Zone 5: 45 MPH between Goose Lane and Chestnut Lane (approximate mileposts 5.09 to 5.67); thence
(F) Zone 6: 50 MPH between Chestnut Lane and the Pennsville Township - City of Salem corporate line (approximate mileposts 5.67 to 8.26); thence
ii. In the City of Salem:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Pennsville Township - City of Salem corporate line (bridge over the Salem River) and Oak Street (approximate mileposts 8.26 to 8.87); thence
(B) Zone 2: 25 MPH between Oak Street and Ninth Street (approximate mileposts 8.87 to 9.29); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between Ninth Street and Yorke Street (County Route 658) (approximate mileposts 9.29 to 9.74); thence
(D) Zone 4: 35 MPH between Yorke Street (County Route 658) and the City of Salem - Quinton Township corporate line (Keasby Creek) (approximate mileposts 9.74 to 10.10); thence
iii. In the Township of Quinton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the City of Salem - Quinton Township line (Keasby Creek) and 1,300 feet east of Sherron Avenue (approximate mileposts 10.10 to 11.04); thence
(B) Zone 2: 50 MPH between 1,300 feet east of Sherron Avenue and 500 feet west of Action Station Road (County Route 653) (approximate mileposts 11.04 to 12.23); thence
(C) Zone 3: 35 MPH between 500 feet west of Action Station Road (County Route 653) and Jericho Road (County Route 626) except with a 25 MPH school speed zone in the Quinton Township Elementary School zone during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 12.23 to 13.05); thence
(D) Zone 4: 50 MPH between Jericho Road (County Route 626) and the Quinton Township – Stow Creek Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 13.05 to 18.78); thence
2. In Cumberland County:
i. In the Township of Stow Creek:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Quinton Township – Stow Creek Township corporate line and the Stow Creek Township - Hopewell Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 18.78 to 20.56); thence
(2) For the eastbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Stow Creek Township - Hopewell Township corporate line and Stow Creek - Shiloh Borough corporate line (Mill Road) (approximate mileposts 20.56 to 20.91); thence
ii. In the Borough of Shiloh:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between Hopewell Township-Stow Creek Township-Borough of Shiloh westerly corporate line and 609 feet east of Mill Road (approximate mileposts 20.91 to 21.03); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 609 feet east of Mill Road and Davis Avenue (approximate mileposts 21.03 to 21.25); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between Davis Avenue and 265 feet east of Walnut Street except for 25 MPH when passing through the Shiloh Elementary School Zone (approximate milepost 21.60) during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 21.25 to 21.62); thence
(D) Zone 4: 40 MPH between 265 feet east of Walnut Street and Maple Street (approximate mileposts 21.62 to 21.86); thence
(E) Zone 5: 50 MPH between Maple Avenue and the westernmost Borough of Shiloh - Hopewell Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 21.86 to 22.04); thence
iii. In the Township of Hopewell:
(1) For the westbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the westernmost Stow Creek Township – Hopewell Township corporate line and the westernmost Hopewell Township - Borough of Shiloh corporate line (approximate mileposts 20.56 to 20.91); thence
(2) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Borough of Shiloh – Hopewell Township easterly corporate line and West Park Drive (approximate mileposts 22.04 to 23.63); thence
(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between West Park Drive and Stell Road (approximate mileposts 23.63 to 24.04); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between Stell Road and the Hopewell Township – City of Bridgeton corporate line (West Commerce Street) (approximate mileposts 24.04 to 24.51); thence
iv. In the City of Bridgeton:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between Hopewell Township – City of Bridgeton corporate line and 830 feet west of West Avenue (approximate mileposts 24.52 to 24.71); thence
(B) Zone 2: 30 MPH between 830 feet west of West Avenue and Bank Street Extension, except for 25 MPH when passing through the Bridgeton Middle School zone (mileposts 24.87 to 25.06) while “25 MPH When Flashing” signs are operating when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 24.71 to 25.75); thence
(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between Bank Street Extension and 800 feet east of South East Avenue (approximate mileposts 25.75 to 26.23); thence
(D) Zone 4: 35 MPH between 800 feet east of South East Avenue and Park Avenue (approximate mileposts 26.23 to 26.72); thence
(E) Zone 5: 45 MPH between Park Avenue and the City of Bridgeton -  Fairfield Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 26.72 to 27.14); thence
v. In the Township of Fairfield:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the City of Bridgeton-Fairfield Township corporate line and 1,500 feet east of Gould Avenue, except for 30 MPH when passing through the Gouldtown School zone while "30 MPH when flashing" signs are operating while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 27.14 to 29.06); thence
(B) Zone 2: 50 MPH between 1,500 feet east of Gould Avenue and the Fairfield Township-City of Millville corporate line (approximate mileposts 29.06 to 30.80); thence
vi. In the City of Millville:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Fairfield Township-City of Millville corporate line and Carol Drive (approximate mileposts 30.80 to 34.76); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Carol Drive and Sharp Street (County Route 667) (approximate mileposts 34.76 to 35.34); thence
(C) Zone 3: 35 MPH between Sharp Street (County Route 667) and Brandriff Avenue (County Route 610) (approximate mileposts 35.34 to 36.02); thence
(D) Zone 4: 25 MPH between Brandriff Avenue (County Route 610) and Seventh Street (approximate mileposts 36.02 to 36.78); thence
(E) Zone 5: 35 MPH between Seventh Street and Wade Boulevard (County Route 678) (approximate mileposts 36.78 to 37.40); thence
(F) Zone 6: 45 MPH between Wade Boulevard (County Route 678) and 1,300 feet east of East Forest Glen Drive (approximate mileposts 37.40 to 38.96); thence
(G) Zone 7: 50 MPH between 1,300 feet east of East Forest Glen Drive and the City of Millville-City of Vineland-Maurice River Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 38.96 to 40.80); thence
vii. In the Township of Maurice River:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the City of Millville-Maurice River Township corporate line and the Maurice River Township - Upper Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 40.80 to 47.08); thence
(2) For the westbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the between the Maurice River Township - Upper Township corporate line and the City of Estell Manor – Maurice River Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 47.08 to 47.27); thence
3. In Atlantic County:
i. In the City of Estell Manor:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Maurice River Township - Upper Township - City of Estell Manor corporate line and the easternmost City of Estell Manor - Upper Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 47.27 to 49.84); thence
4. In Cape May County:
i. In the Township of Upper:
(1) For the eastbound direction of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Township of Maurice River – Upper Township corporate line and the Upper Township - City of Estell Manor westerly corporate line (approximate mileposts 47.08 to 47.27); thence
(2) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the easternmost City of Estell Manor – Upper Township corporate line and Route NJ 50 (end of route) (approximate mileposts 49.84 to 53.80).
