Then open the appointment calendar by clicking the button provided below.

Be sure to schedule an appointment before visiting — the availability for walk-in counseling is extremely limited.
We cannot guarantee that you will be seen without an appointment.

  1. When the Appointment Calendar opens, select the type of interview that you require from the drop down (retirement, purchase of service, health benefits, etc.). Then, click the "Continue" button.

  2. You will see a calendar showing the dates of the next available interview times. You may also click the "Next" or "Previous" links to find available times during other months. Select an open date and you will see available appointment times that match your request.

Note: The Division opens a new month of appointments about 6 weeks prior any given month. For example: Appointments for June are made available for online scheduling in mid-April.

  3. After you select an interview time, complete the member information form so the counselor can be prepared for your visit.
Note: Interviews are limited to 30 minutes and a member may only have one scheduled appointment at any time.

You are welcome to bring a spouse or friend to your interview. However, if the spouse or friend is a pension member and wants an interview with a pension counselor, that individual must schedule a separate appointment.

  4. Click the "Submit" button to complete the registration. You will see an on-screen confirmation of your appointment and a separate confirmation will be sent by e-mail. You will also receive an e-mail several days before your appointment to remind you of the upcoming appointment.

The Appointment Calendar opens in a new window, so you can return to view these instructions while registering for an interview.

Appointments are not available for services that are not listed on the calendar.

  • Appointments are not needed for the drop-off of completed forms and similar actions that do not require member account access or a counselor’s assistance. These services are available during normal business hours.

  • Many services are also available through the Member Benefits Online System (MBOS).
  • Paper retirement applications are no longer accepted! All retirement applications must be submitted by the member using the Member Benefits Online System (MBOS)
  • ABP members: Scheduled appointments are not available for Alternate Benefit Program (ABP) members. For assistance with ABP questions, please contact your ABP Investment Carrier or call the Division's Office of Client Services at: (609) 292-7524

If you visit you may need the the following:

  • Proof of age (certified birth certificate, passport, etc.) for yourself and any spouse, partner, or other beneficiary.

  • Dates of birth and complete mailing address information (including zip code) for all beneficiaries.

  • A voided check if setting up direct deposit of a benefit payment.

  • For counseling about a purchase of service credit, have complete mailing address information (including zip code) for any former employers and specific dates of prior employment.

  • For retirement counseling, get information and Fact Sheets in the Online Guide to Retirement (PFRS or TPAF | PFRS) so that if you choose to visit, you can focus on the retirement questions where you need help from the counselor.
