Interpretation
of N.J.S.A. 43:16A-3.1
– Trustee Sandella’s memorandum of February 3, 2003 –
- Request that the Division draft
a survey to participating PFRS employers to determine if the present
positions as defined under N.J.S.A. 43:16A-3.1 (employees
in appointive capacity with administrative or supervisory duties
over police or firefighters) are coming under the definitions
of N.J.S.A. 43:16A-1(2)(a)(b) for policeman and fireman.
The draft survey will be reviewed by the Board at its meeting
on March 24, 2003.
- After the survey is mailed to the
participating locations, the Division will share the results of
the survey with the Board at a future meeting. If the results
of the survey indicate that title reviews under the provisions
of N.J.S.A. 43:16A-1.2 (Chapter 204, P.L. 1989) is necessary
to determine eligibility for those titles to participate in the
PFRS, the Division’s Director should proceed in the review of
these titles in the usual manner.
Interpretation
of Full-time/Part-time PFRS Employment –
- The Board voted to postpone action
on the definition of full-time PFRS employment until the results
of the Division’s survey can be mailed and subsequently reviewed
by the Board at a future meeting.
The
next meeting of the Board is scheduled for February 24, 2003 at
10:00 a.m.
