REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Medical Plans for Plan Year 2013

In March of 2012, the Division of Purchase and Property released a Request for Proposal to obtain bids for the administration of the medical plans offered by the State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) and School Employees’ Health Benefits Program (SEHBP). In July of 2012, the bid evaluation process concluded with the contracts awarded to Aetna and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.  The medical plans being offered for Plan Year 2013 are as follows:*

Cigna will no longer participate in the SHBP/SEHBP as of Plan Year 2013. Members currently enrolled in Cigna medical plans MUST select a new medical plan for Plan Year 2013. Notice to Cigna Enrollees.

Note: The Cigna Dental DPO remains available to employees eligible for the SHBP Employee Dental Plans.

*Horizon HMO is available in New Jersey and bordering counties in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York; Aetna Freedom10 and NJ DIRECT10 are not available to State Employees; NJ DIRECT HD4000 and Aetna Value HD4000 are not available to Local Education Employees; Medicare eligible retirees cannot enroll in Aetna Freedom2030, Aetna HMO 2030, or any of the High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP).
