Retirement Workshops and Group Counseling Sessions have been scheduled for
PERS, TPAF, and PFRS members who plan to retire BEFORE THE END OF 2012.

Live Retirement Workshops   |    Group Counseling Sessions

Retirement Workshop Webinars   |   Retirement Video Presentation

RETIREMENT WORKSHOPS
PERS, TPAF, and PFRS Members

Retirement workshops take a step-by-step approach to the retirement process and explain what happens after you submit your application. We explain your benefits, beneficiary options, group life insurance, loan repayment provisions, and the taxability of your pension. There is also a brief discussion of State Health Benefits Program and School Employees’ Health Benefits Program coverage in retirement and, time permitting, the workshop concludes with a question and answer period.

If you register to attend be sure to do the following:

  • You should complete and print an Estimate of Retirement Benefits using the Member Benefits Online System (MBOS). Retirement estimates are not provided at the workshop. Estimates obtained from MBOS are the same estimates that are obtained when visiting the Division’s offices and use identical salary and service information.

  • Bring your estimate to the workshop so you can follow along during the presentation.

  • To register with MBOS go to: www.state.nj.us/treasury/pensions/mbosregister.shtml and
    follow the registration instructions.

Retirement Workshops are for members who plan to retire before the end of 2012

GROUP RETIREMENT COUNSELING SESSIONS
PERS and TPAF Members

Group Retirement Counseling Sessions are available at the Division's office at 50 West State Street, Trenton, New Jersey.  We have developed the Group Counseling Sessions for PERS and TPAF members who plan to visit our office to obtain information and file their application for retirement. During each session:

  • Attendees will be provided with an official Estimate of Retirement Benefits;

  • Our counselor will go over the estimate during the session to explain all of the benefit options and the retirement process;

  • The counselor will also explain post-retirement issues such as taxes and health benefits.

After the session you will have an opportunity to ask the counselor individual questions and have the opportunity to file your retirement application during this session.

Group Counseling Sessions are offered at 9:00 a.m. on selected days and limited to 15 attendees to ensure that our staff can provide a high level of personal service.

Note: We cannot accept members applying for ordinary disability or accidental disability retirement in Group Counseling Sessions. Please schedule an individual appointment for disability retirement counseling.
