7/18/06 All Subscribers The New Jersey Division of Taxation will follow the guidelines established by the Internal Revenue Service for taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that has been declared for Hunterdon, Mercer, and Warren counties following the severe storms and flooding at the end of June. Affected taxpayers now have until September 11, 2006, to file New Jersey tax returns and submit payments, included estimated payments, which have an original or extended due date of June 23, 2006, through September 11, 2006.

7/14/06 Property Tax Relief Programs The Division of Taxation is now in the process of mailing 2005 FAIR homeowner rebate applications to non-senior and non-disabled homeowners following the adoption of the State Budget for FY 2007. These homeowners did not receive applications in the May mailing to residents who could be identified as senior (age 65 or older on December 31, 2005) or disabled homeowners.

The current mailing of application packets will be staggered over a two-week period starting July 14, 2006. The deadline for filing these applications is August 15, 2006.

Some senior and disabled homeowners may receive an application packet in this July mailing, even though they have already filed for the 2005 FAIR homeowner rebate. Homeowners who have already filed their applications online or by phone and received a confirmation number, or who have completed and mailed in a paper applicationshould not file again.

The FAIR homeowner rebate application delivery dates by county are:

The FAIR homeowner rebate automated telephone filing system (1-877-658-2972) and Internet filing application on the Division of Taxation Web site will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during the filing period. Homeowners who have questions or need help filing their applications can call the FAIR Rebate Hotline at 1-888-238-1233. Representatives are available from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays
