Inheritance and Estate Tax Branch
How to Contact Us

General questions about Inheritance and Estate taxes are welcome, however we cannot answer any questions about estate planning, including hypothetical questions asked prior to someone’s death.

Also, our Branch does not require an Employer Identification Number (EIN), commonly known as Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), to file Inheritance or Estate Tax returns. If the estate’s representative needs to obtain an EIN to open an estate account or manage other estate business, please contact the Internal Revenue Service at 1-800-829-4933.
