In order to document the exemption, a copy of the SC-6 Exemption Certificate must be provided to the energy seller by the business.

Both the UZ-6 and the SC-6 exemption certificates have expiration dates which are extended for another year upon annual renewal by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Sellers should ensure that they obtain the revised exemption certificate from the customer each year.
