New
Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Art Brown, Jr.,
presented the 2000 Conservation Education Essay
and Poster Contest awards recently in Trenton.
This year's theme was "Keeping My Watershed Clean
and Healthy." A certificate of merit and a savings
bond was presented to the first, second and third
place winners in each of the three grade level
categories of the essay and poster contests. The
annual contests are sponsored by the NJDA's State
Soil Conservation Committee, the New Jersey Association
of Conservation Districts; the Natural Resources
Conservation Service, USDA and the Rutgers Cooperative
Extension. The contests highlight the importance
of helping youngsters develop a deeper awareness
of our natural resources and the importance of
managing them wisely.
