Course Description
This two-day course is designed to provide public employers training about their responsibilities in the pension and benefits process such as: purchase of service credit, loans, retirement, withdrawals, death claims, and other related information. Participants will learn how to navigate the Employer Pension and Benefits Information Connection (EPIC). The system is used to access employees’ pension account information for processing and inquiry.
Additionally, participants will learn the enrollment rules and procedures for the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS), the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System (PFRS), and the Defined Contribution Retirement Program (DCRP). Course participants will receive a brief overview of the benefits for each plan.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the pension fund and tier eligibility of new employees
- Recognize the enrollment procedures of the Division of Pensions and Benefits
- Distinguish the retirement benefits of the various pension funds
- Use the EPIC online system of the Division of Pensions and Benefits to complete pensions-related employer tasks
Registration
Please complete the HR-1 Training Authorization Form to request classroom training. Your direct supervisor, departmental training coordinator and fiscal officer must approve the form. HR-1's received without proper approval will be returned to the Department's Training Coordinator.
