Lori Grifa 

 

Lori Grifa, the fifteenth Commissioner of the DCA, was appointed by Governor Chris Christie in 2010.

At the time of her appointment, Commissioner Grifa was a member of the law firm Wolff & Samson, where she focused on the areas of land use, regulation and environmental law. In this capacity, she also represented municipalities on affordable housing issues. From 2002 to 2003, she served as chief of staff to then New Jersey Attorney General David Samson, where she was responsible for managing the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety and the civil representation of the State of New Jersey, and for overseeing the State’s criminal prosecution efforts.

Earlier in her career, Grifa was a special assistant district attorney in the Homicide Investigation Unit of the New York County District Attorney’s Office for two years and was a senior assistant district attorney with the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney from 1989 to 1997, where she specialized in homicide and gang-related prosecutions.

Grifa is currently a partner at Archer, where she handles matters involving administrative and regulatory law, as well as government affairs, before the New Jersey Departments of Banking and Insurance, Health, Human Services, Environmental Protection, Labor, Transportation and Treasury, as well as the state’s professional licensing boards.

Grifa received a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University and she is a graduate of Boston College School of Law.
