TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey State Senate yesterday confirmed Janice Kovach as Director of the Department of Community Affairs’ Division on Women.

“I am honored by this opportunity,” said Kovach. “I look forward to working with the great staff at DCA to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of all New Jersey women and their families”.

“Janice is a strong, knowledgeable advocate for women’s issues,” said Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Susan Bass Levin. “The combination of public and private sector experience she possesses will be a tremendous asset for this department and for the women of New Jersey.”

Janice Kovach was elected Councilwoman in the Town of Clinton in 2003 and served two years before resigning to accept the position of Acting Director of the Division on Women. She was a consultant for JLK Consulting and Seabrook Consulting and was a Director with Prudential Insurance Company of America. She continues to serve on the Highlands Council and was a founding member of CPS Partners in Education Foundation, Inc. She is a graduate of Thomas Edison State College and currently resides in the Town of Clinton.

The Division on Women was established in 1974 by law to serve as state government’s central permanent agency for the coordination of programs and services for women. The Division works to create, promote and expand the rights and opportunities for all women in New Jersey. It conducts research leading to public policy to support the development, coordination and evaluation of programs and services for women.
