DCA Extends Deadline for Heating and Energy Assistance Benefits |
Extension to Allow Residents Greater Access to Heating Assistance |
TRENTON, N.J. – Governor Jon S. Corzine and New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ (DCA) Commissioner Susan Bass Levin today announced that the deadline for which

Also receiving an application submission deadline extension are Fuel Emergency Benefits, which assist people who are in danger of running out of fuel. The original deadline for this funding had been March 15th but has now also been extended to April 30th.
“These programs provide low-income families with much needed home energy assistance
Beginning March 15th, applications will also be accepted for Utility Emergency Benefits. Utility Emergency Benefits fund residents who are in danger of having their electricity or gas shut-off once the winter shut-off moratorium ends on March 15th. Applications for funding will be accepted from March 15th to April 30th.
In addition to the deadline extensions and the start of the Utility Emergency Benefit application period, DCA will also be making an additional $5 million available for the Heating System Replacement program. This program provides funding for repairs and replacement heating systems for qualified residents.
