DCA Launches 2012 Women’s Entrepreneurship Series

NJ Division on Women Aims to Spur More Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Women in NJ

TRENTON, N.J. – The New Jersey Division on Women will launch the first of three New Jersey Women's Entrepreneurship Series (NJ WE Series) events on February 23, 2012 at The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village in Princeton, New Jersey. Online registration for the February 23rd NJ WE Series event opens Monday, November 21, 2011 at http://www.nj.gov/dca/dow/2012njweseries/we1registration.html. Pre-registration for each NJ WE Series event is required. Early registration is encouraged as space is limited. On-site registration will not be available.

"Women are born leaders," said New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Commissioner Lori Grifa. "Women are naturally endowed with the qualities of entrepreneurship and it is our hope that through this dynamic series, more women will decide to take that important first step and join the legions of other women-owned businesses around the State."

The 2012 NJ WE Series is an empowering economic development forum for New Jersey's aspiring and established women business leaders. Participants are invited to advance their business knowledge through small interactive working group sessions, topical and informative plenary discussions, inspiring and dynamic speaker presentations, the State of New Jersey's entrepreneurial resources, and networking opportunities with successful business leaders. The 2012 NJ WE Series working group sessions are uniquely structured into the Aspiring Entrepreneurs (AE) and Established Entrepreneurs (EE) business tracks:

AE Track – For women who would like to become entrepreneurs and start their own business.

EE Track – For established women entrepreneurs who want to advance to the next level.

"For women who are considering a new business opportunity or want to take their company to that next level, this business seminar is a 'must'," said Deputy DCA Commissioner BettyLou DeCroce, who is also serving as the Acting Director of the Division on Women. "We will provide you with up-to-date information on business strategy and marketing, plus much more.  And, you will have the opportunity to interact with presenters and veterans who can show you the ropes."

The 2012 NJ WE Series is a no charge event and is funded by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The NJ WE Series will be implemented in recognition of the following national business awareness weeks in 2012:

  • February 23rd - National Entrepreneurship Week
  • May 21st - National Small Business Week
  • October 19th - National Business Women’s Week
