Housing Resource Fair to Be Held in Middletown on September 26; People Affected by Superstorm Sandy Encouraged to Attend

TRENTON, NJ - The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) today announced a free Housing Resource Fair will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in Middletown, Monmouth County, to provide people with information about housing counseling, utility assistance, housing search help, foreclosure prevention, and other services. Anyone who was affected by Superstorm Sandy is welcome and encouraged to attend.

The Housing Resource Fair, which is being presented by the Affordable Housing Alliance, will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, Middletown, NJ, 07748.

“We know there are people in our communities who are struggling to make ends meet because of a lost job, illness, the death of a loved one, the lingering impact of Superstorm Sandy, or some other issue. Regardless of the reason, anyone who needs assistance is encouraged to come to the free housing resource fair,” said Lt. Governor Sheila Y. Oliver, DCA Commissioner. “There will be a tremendous amount of resources conveniently gathered in one place, and knowledgeable people who can answer questions and provide guidance.”

For example, attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with HUD-certified housing counselors for a wide array of housing-related issues, including budgeting and rental guidance. They can also learn about affordable home loans and speak with representatives of affordable rental communities developed with Sandy recovery funds that are accepting rental applications. Additionally, attendees can receive information about the New Jersey HomeSaver foreclosure prevention initiative and Foreclosure Mediation Assistance Program.
