In subsequent years, we found more knots nests, all in areas that were nearly devoid of vegetation. These areas, primarily located on Southampton and King William Island, hosted a large portion of the red knots that came through the Delaware Bay. Studying them is difficult because of weather, low densities (more than a kilometer between nests in good habitat) and, of course, polar bears.
