Compensation: $29 - $34 per hour. Rate commensurate with education & experience.

Job Description:

The Office of Fish and Wildlife Information Systems is seeking a GIS Specialist to perform various geospatial data development, analysis and application development tasks related to agency datasets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diversity of GIS projects that help guide strategic habitat conservation and support fish and wildlife management throughout New Jersey.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of GIS data development including creation, editing, conversion, QA/QC review and metadata
  • Conduct GIS analysis, modeling, and generation of statistical data in tables, graphs and charts
  • Process and analyze imagery and other raster data
  • Research, identify and develop spatial apps, tools, techniques, analyses, etc., as appropriate to address project-specific and overall programmatic needs
  • Maintain timely communication with GIS management and produce process documentation throughout all project stages
  • Provide technical assistance related to GIS data and applications to agency staff and external constituents
  • Work in a collaborative and coordinated manner with other Office of Fish and Wildlife Information Systems staff and engage in mutual learning to raise the overall skill level, knowledge base and effectiveness of the Office

Qualifications:

  • Proficient with ESRI's suite of products ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Insights for ArcGIS
  • Must be well-versed in raster and vector data formats
  • Proficient with Microsoft Access, Excel and experience creating graphs and charts
  • Experience with processing and analyzing imagery and other raster data
  • Experience working with LiDAR point cloud data and QT Modeler preferred
  • Drone Pilot Certified and experience with ArcGIS Drone2Map preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
