Seasonal Wildlife Worker


Location: Higbee Beach WMA Garage, 528 New England Rd, Cape May, NJ 08204

Closing Date: When filled

Work Shift/Hours: Varied, 40hrs/week (May-September)

Salary Range: $13-$15/hour (based upon experience)

Job Description: Employees will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of Wildlife Management Areas located in the Southern Region (primarily Cape May County, but occasionally in Atlantic, Cumberland, Gloucester, Camden, and Salem counties). This position will require manual labor as well as operating mowers, weed whackers, chippers, chainsaws, and hedge clippers. Employees will be responsible for maintaining parking areas, trails, and collecting trash.

Employees will work a flex schedule that will include weekends and two to three days during the week up to 900 hrs/year. Applicants should be in good physical condition (able to lift 50 pounds), be able to work on their own, and work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.

Applicants must possess a current and valid driver license.

Preferred Skills: Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following: knowledge of fish and wildlife regulations, boat/utility trailering, understanding of wildlife management concepts, good interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and experience using power tools.
