January 21, 2022

Hunters are reminded that the Spring Turkey Permit Application Period opens on January 25th. Applications can be made either online (select Purchase Licenses) or by going to any license agent. The application period closes at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, February 22.

Applicants are encouraged to review their applications online once submitted. Lottery applications can be edited online until the application period closes.

Lottery information is found on page 50 in the 2021-22 Hunting Digest; information on how to apply is available on the Permit Information page. Applicants should consult the Spring 2022 Lottery Quota Information (pdf) when completing their lottery application.

Award notification and the ability to claim awarded permits begins Monday, February 28th. Qualified farmers can also claim their permits beginning March 28. (Edited from March 1)

The deadline for claiming permits is 11:59 on March 23. Unclaimed permits will be forfeited and be available for sale.

Leftover and unclaimed Spring Turkey Permits will go on sale Monday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. Permits will be available on a first come, first served basis until either the season ends or the permit quota is met, whichever comes first. Permits will be available for sale at all license agents and online.

Youths with a valid Youth License are guaranteed their first permit will be a "Y" permit in the lottery or over-the-counter for the area of their choosing. A "Y" permit is valid in all periods (until a turkey is harvested).

Hunters who win a permit in both lotteries must claim both awarded permits. For more information on the Spring Gobbler Season lotteries see page 21 in the 2021-22 Hunting Digest.
