The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife reminds hunters that all harvested wild turkeys must be taken to an official checking station by 3 p.m. on the day of harvest. The Division maintains more than 60 turkey check stations throughout the state to collect valuable information on the wild turkey harvest in New Jersey.

Following is a list of turkey check station additions. A full list may be found in the 1998 NJ Wild Turkey Hunting Permit Application and Season Information Supplement available at hunting license agents and Division offices statewide.

The 1998 Spring Gobbler Season in New Jersey began Monday, April 20 and will continue for five weeks. The outlook for the season is excellent with biologists predicting a harvest comparable to the 2,034 gobblers taken last spring.
