LIFEGUARD POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT STATE PARKS
There will be plenty of opportunity for those interested in becoming lifeguards
at New Jersey state parks. This season, 150 lifeguard positions will be available
at all of the state park swimming areas.
State Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Shinn announced that the Division
of Parks and Forestry is recruiting for the positions and offering free training
and certification.
"With the summer season right around the corner, many students will be eager
to find work," Shinn said. "This is a great opportunity to earn money
and to become skilled in a job that saves lives."
Lifeguard applicants must be at least 16 years of age and undergo training and
certification by the State Park Service. No previous experience is required.
The starting salary is $6.60 per hour.
Applicants under 18 years of age must have an official State Park Service
permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian to participate in lifeguard
testing. A package of information, including a permission slip, can be obtained
from any park listed below or by contacting the State Park Service Trenton Office
at 609-984-6085. The season runs from late May 24 through Labor Day.
