[SRRA]: NJ DEP Hosts ITRC Petroleum Vapor Intrusion Training September 26-27, 2016

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection will host a 2-day training class offered by the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) entitled Petroleum Vapor Intrusion: Fundamentals of Screening, Investigation and Management. This training class will be held on September 26-27, 2016 at the DoubleTree Hotel & Conf. Center in Somerset, NJ. The NJDEP’s revised Vapor Intrusion Technical (VIT) Guidance is due out in August, 2016. Changes to NJDEP's VIT Guidance are based on information presented at this course, the associated ITRC Petroleum Vapor Intrusion (PVI) guidance document, and empirical data generated by the USEPA. This is your opportunity to learn about this new paradigm shift and how it changes the way PVI sites will be investigated in the future.

About the Training Class:
The ITRC Training Class is an interactive learning experience with classroom exercises and Q&A sessions. It will help participants better understand the essential principles of biodegradation and the fundamentals of vapor movement through the vadose zone and generate a greater appreciation for the importance of computer modeling in investigating PVI sites. It will help develop on-the-job skills to screen-out petroleum sites based on the scientifically-supported ITRC strategy and checklist that will allow limited resources to be focused on investigating PVI sites that truly represent an unacceptable risk. John Boyer of the NJDEP and Tom Walker of the USEPA Office of Underground Storage Tanks are nationally recognized experts in this field and will serve as instructors for this course along with other national PVI experts as highlighted on the registration page.

Continuing Education Credits (CECs):
This ITRC course has been approved by the New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board for 15 Technical CECs. Attendance certificates will be issued for all interested participants who meet attendance requirements (e.g., must have photo-ID and document attendance by signing-in and signing-out of the training class). The New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board course number for this training class is 2016-032. See additional continuing education approvals on the ITRC registration page (link provided below), including those for Connecticut LEPs and Massachusetts LSPs.

To Register:
The registration fee for this course is $950 (with early bird fee of $750 until August 19). Registrants from organizations that are members of the ITRC Industry Affiliates Program are eligible for a discounted registration fee. Note: For U.S. local, state, and federal government, students, community stakeholders, and tribal representatives, ITRC will offer a limited number of scholarships. More information on scholarships is available at www.itrcweb.org/training.
