Christie Administration Advises Piscataway High School Students to
Set Budgets and Make Informed Financial Decisions

PISCATAWAY – Continuing the Department’s ongoing financial literacy program, Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Ken Kobylowski last week, in his first High School financial literacy presentation of the new school year, advised more than 300 Piscataway High School students to learn basic financial concepts such as maintaining a personal budget, balancing checkbooks and using credit cards judiciously. Commissioner Kobylowski emphasized that these skills played a key role in their future financial success.

“What you learn today about personal financial decisions will impact your life for many years to come,” said Kobylowski. “It is extremely important to understand basic personal financial matters now.”

This announcement is part of the Department’s ongoing Financial Literacy program for high school and college students. For the last eight years, the Department has spoken to thousands of students in schools across the State about topics including basic personal finance, the importance of credit and how to manage credit cards. Last year, the Department began a financial literacy program for college students.
