DRBC staff recently participated in the Schuylkill River Restoration Fund (SRRF) Grant Announcement and Bus Tour. The SRRF provides grants to government agencies and non-profit organizations for projects that improve water quality in the Schuylkill River Watershed.

This year, roughly $500,000 was awarded to support nine projects that will address stream restoration, agricultural pollution and stormwater runoff.

The SRRF was established through a unique public-private partnership between Exelon Nuclear, the Delaware River Basin Commission and the Schuylkill River Greenways National Heritage Area. Since being established in 2006, the fund has distributed more than $4.6 million–and leveraged another $5 million–for 121 projects that protect and restore the Schuylkill River.

DRBC Manager of Water Resource Planning Chad Pindar, P.E., gave remarks at the grant announcement, highlighting DRBC's role and support of the SRRF, as well as the success of this public-private partnership to improve the waters of the Schuylkill Basin.
