DRBC recently welcomed state legislators, industry representatives, Our Shared Waters partners and other local stakeholders to the Limerick Clean Energy Center for a discussion on the critical relationship between water and energy in the Delaware River Basin. The variety of perspectives represented during the event's roundtable fostered thoughtful conversations and educated legislators on the opportunities and challenges at the intersection of water resource management and energy production.

The event opened with remarks from Sen. Tracy Pennycuick (PA-24) and a presentation from Limerick's Site Vice President, Matt Bonanno, who briefed attendees on the facility's current operations and long-range planning efforts.

DRBC staff -- Beth Brown, Director of External Affairs and Communications, and Chad Pindar, Manager of Water Resource Planning -- followed with an overview of the Commission's work tracking historic water use and planning for basin-wide water supply needs.

Participants engaged in dialogue about their communities' connections to the Delaware River, underscoring the importance of managing its resources with a holistic approach. We thank Pa. State Senator Tracy Pennycuick (PA-24) and staffer, Pa. State Senator Katie Muth (PA-44), Pa. State Rep. Amen Brown (PA-10), Pa. State Rep. Greg Vitali (PA-166) and staffers with Pa. State Rep. Matt Bradford and Pa. State Rep. Joe Ciresi for taking the time to attend.

Additionally, DRBC is grateful to representatives from the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin, Schuylkill River Greenways, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, Philadelphia Water Department, Montgomery County, and the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary for contributing their unique perspectives to the roundtable.

Following the discussion, attendees toured the Limerick facility to gain a firsthand look at its operations and the role nuclear generation plays within the Basin's broader water-energy nexus.

DRBC extends its sincere appreciation to Constellation Energy and the Limerick team for their hospitality and for sharing their expertise throughout the day. By convening conversations like these, the Commission continues to foster collaboration and promote a shared understanding of the complex issues that shape the sustainable management of the Delaware River Basin and its water supply.
