Purpose: The Engagement of Parents of Students with Disabilities in Schools Year 2 of 3 is a federally-funded limited-competitive grant program intended to increase the engagement of parents of students with disabilities in their children's education and schools. Through this statewide program, parents/caregivers with children receiving special education services will benefit through active participation in parent groups; increased access to knowledge and resources in fostering literacy development, parent involvement in the Individual Education Program (IEP) and supporting their student's access to general education programs. This grant program is a three year grant program. The successful grantee will develop a state model for the development and replication of parent support organizations and provide technical assistance throughout the state to new and existing parent support organizations. The maximum award under this program is $400,000 in Year 2 and is funded from federal IDEA funds. Eligibility to apply for this Engagement of Parents of Students with Disabilities in Schools Year 1 of 3 is open to the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network, Inc, the successful grantee awarded on a competitive basis in year 1. The Year 2 project period is April 1, 2019-March 31, 2020
