Department of Education senior officials will host a meeting Friday, March 14, on the 12th Grade Pilot Program. The meeting is for the northern region, which consists of Warren, Sussex, Morris, Passaic, Essex, Hudson and Bergen counties.

The 12th-grade pilot program encourages high school seniors who have finished all graduation requirements to enroll in college-credit courses or seek volunteer opportunities, among other things, for both personal and intellectual growth.

Friday's meeting will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at Passaic County Community College, One College Boulevard, Paterson.

The 12th Grade Pilot Program is an initiative high on Governor James E. McGreevey's and Commissioner of Education William L. Librera's list of education priorities. The pilot program encourages districts to offer high school seniors a plethora of out-of-school options, such as online courses and community service work.

A similar meeting for the central region is scheduled for March 25 at Middlesex County College. More information on that event is to come. For more information about Friday's meeting at Passaic County Community College, please call the Department of Education's Public Information Office at (609) 292-1126.
