School Three is an active and progressive community-based school with a faculty, staff, parents, and community members who contribute to an educational and social environment that focuses on academic pursuits, multicultural activities, self-esteem, respect, citizenship, and environmental issues. Our focus and goals are to continue to provide an environment that allows our children to excel, be rich with opportunities to grow, and educate the heart as well as the mind.
The School Three community is very involved in the use of technology in all areas of instruction, including the use of SMART boards, wireless laptops, and web quest research. Our school library/media center offers a host of technological resources.
Instruction is offered in all subject areas with varied methods and assessments to maximize individualized learning. School Three has rigorous academic standards in place to maintain a high level of success for all students. Teachers encourage the daily use of critical thinking skills, responsibility, collaborative and cooperative learning, and good decision making in all aspects or our students’ learning experiences.
The spirit of giving is taught and practiced by the entire School Three community. The children and staff participate in a number of charitable causes. This year, we have adopted St. Jude Children’s Hospital as our main charitable cause.
Student assistance programs, such as Intervention and Referral Services, help teachers and parents with children who require extra assistance. DARE and SADD programs teach children to be drug free and educate them about self-esteem and self-respect. In addition, our staff has been trained in conflict resolution, peer mediation anti-bullying and character education.
Standardized test scores in all grade levels are traditionally above state and local averages. Our school has recently been selected as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, based on these outstanding scores. The faculty, staff and community prepare our students to strive to reach their maximum potential and to embrace diversity. As our motto states, “School Three is the place to be”.
