BRAGG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Bragg Intermediate School is an exemplary school accommodating approximately 350 students in grades three through five. It is the mission of the faculty and staff to establish a learning environment that challenges students while working within each student's individual strengths and learning styles in order to help each child meet with success. An important aspect of this professional learning community is the school's dedication to using multiple instructional strategies, consistent grade level meetings, and data analysis to determine students' needs. This approach, coupled with the district's dedication to consistent articulation and ongoing curricular and professional development, makes for a special place for children to learn. Students at Bragg are immersed in an education that allows them to work independently and cooperatively, while focusing on academic, social, and emotional growth. All faculty members are involved in Professional Learning Communities dedicated to advancing their own knowledge on how to best support the learning of our students. This faculty, coupled with the progressive culture and climate at Bragg, allows our school to meet the diverse needs of our 21st century learners.
Bragg School is committed to infusing units/lessons with researched based, best-practices in instruction. Furthermore, the faculty at Bragg is dedicated to the process of formative assessment, using data to guide instruction while consistently monitoring student understanding, further assuring that all students meet educational objectives. In addition to our academic subjects, students receive instruction in the areas of STEM, art, music, instrumental music, physical education, health, library, technology applications, and World Languages. Bragg offers a Gifted and Talented Program to help further differentiate instruction for our students who demonstrate particularly strong skills in problem solving and critical thinking. In addition, our students in need of special education services benefit from our inclusion model, which involves ongoing professional development for our regular classroom and special education teacher teams. Students in need of more targeted support receive it in our Resource Rooms, Basic/Foundational Skills and/or Title 1 Programs. Bragg continues to infuse technology in our students' learning, being cognizant of its use as a learning tool rather than a gimmick. Our teachers seamlessly incorporate iPads, laptops, and Google Classroom, along with other software and programs into the daily learning of our students. We believe we are creating life-long learners ready to persevere in tomorrow's world.
In helping to further enact our mission statement of educating children academically, socially, and personally, we place great emphasis on building strong, positive character traits in our students. By following the concepts of the Olweus Program, our students become self-assured and positive role models. Bragg staff supports the Pillars of Character, working to ensure our students are trustworthy, respectful, responsible, fair, caring and good citizens. Equally important is forging a healthy and positive home/ school connection for our children. This is accomplished through a number of parental involvement forums including our School Safety Team, Principal's Roundtable Meetings, Special Education Parent Support Group, Additions Volunteers Program, and the many proactive student, teacher, and community based initiatives of our PTO and our Educational Foundation of the Chesters.
