The Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism was created by State appropriation in 1999 and has been issuing research and clinical and educational enhancement grants since 2000. As per P.L. 2007, Chapter 168, the Director of the Council must report not later than March 1 of each year to the Governor and to the Legislature on the status of the Center of Excellence for Autism and other activities of the council.
