For The Community

Local health departments (LHDs) are community-based public health service providers and the front-line forces responsible for essential public health services that protect the health of New Jersey's citizens. The 565 cities, townships, boroughs and other muncipalities in New Jersey rely on a network of 104 LHDs that help ensure local public health in partnership with the state Department of Health. Some LHDs cover a single municipality, while others cover multiple municipalities or entire counties.

Use the map tool on this page to find individual LHDs, or download/view the entire directory of local health departments in New Jersey.
