Health Information Organizations (HIO)

New Jersey has several regional Health Information Organizations (HIOs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) that support health information exchange in the state.

Health Information Organizations assist with the interchange of EHRs with the goal of achieving meaningful use. HIOs are able to guide eligible providers in their developmental steps in EHR production. HIOs are operated by a cooperating group of health care organizations and are governed jointly by their members.

Integrated Delivery Networks have the same general mission as an HIO, but are managed by a single governance structure or single health care organization.
