NJ Medical Reserve Corps

Get involved! The New Jersey Medical Reserve Corps (NJMRC) is a network of community-based, locally organized units comprised of volunteers who help ensure their communities are healthy, prepared, and resilient. With nearly 5,000 volunteers, the NJMRC promotes healthy living throughout the year and is stands ready for deployment in the event of a disaster or other emergency.

To recognize the exemplary work being done to improve health outcomes in New Jersey, the DOH has created the Public Health Innovators Awards. This month,in conjuction with National Preparedness Month, we are highlighting organizations that have made innovative efforts to increase preparedness in New Jersey!

 

 

You are the Help, Until Help Arrives

           

In 2017, University Hospital's Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response (UHCEPR) began offering the Until Help Arrives program to provide members of the lay public with basic skills needed to help in the beginning part of any emergency. The program has been conducted 26 times reaching over 750 students

 Until Help Arrives teaches five critical skills: calling 9-1-1, protecting the injured from further harm, stopping any bleeding, positioning the injured so they can breathe, and providing comfort.

 

 

Weathering the Storm

The New Jersey Hospital Association’s Hurricane Planning, Response and Recovery Toolkit, was designed to assist healthcare facilities in preparing for, responding to and recovering from the potential consequences of a hurricane impacting the Garden State.
