The Division of Addiction Services (DAS) is recognized as the Single State Agency on substance abuse in New Jersey.  As such, DAS plans, licenses, regulates and monitors New Jersey substance abuse prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery efforts.

DAS provides funding via contracts for services through both federal and state funding streams, with the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant as DAS’ primary federal funding source.  DAS collects data via the New Jersey Substance Abuse Monitoring System (NJ-SAMS) to aid in planning and coordinating New Jersey’s response to substance abuse.
