If you are not already working full time, WFNJ requires you to participate in an approved work activity and/or look for work. There are numerous work activities available to help you move from welfare to work. You and your caseworker together will decide which activities are appropriate for you. If you are not placed in a work activity initially, you must be in a work activity as soon as possible but no later than 24 months after going on assistance.
Work activities are generally for up to 35 hours per week (unless otherwise noted). For example, you may be able to do volunteer work in a community organization or participate in on-the-job training.
For more information, contact your case worker or County Board of Social Services.
