The office, which has about 80 employees, is one of three state call centers from which 220 agents handle telephone inquiries from Unemployment Insurance claimants. The LWD is working to reduce waiting times for callers by advertising the fact that most people collecting Unemployment Insurance compensation can more easily file their claims and re-certify for benefits by using the Internet, specifically the LWD’s Unemployment Insurance website at http://www.njuifile.net.
“People who file by Internet are able to get paid their benefits faster. We also have a new feature allowing claimants to obtain their important 1099-G Income Tax information through the website. This frees our call centers to handle people who have special problems with their claims,” said Commissioner Wirths.
Additionally, most questions and inquiries about Unemployment Insurance, including extensions of benefits and who qualifies, is available by clicking the Unemployment Insurance line on the LWD’s homepage at http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us.
