New Jersey has a highly respected, innovative and efficient workers' compensation system. This has been accomplished while providing fair and progressive benefits to injured workers and appropriate cost containment provisions to ensure competitive insurance rates.

We have developed, based on the use of technology, a customer driven, open and expanding program.

One example is the Division's web site, which is the first place anyone should go to obtain the latest information about workers’ compensation in New Jersey. The site contains, among other things, the New Jersey workers' compensation statute and administrative regulations, key published opinions, legal research manual, interactive forms and agency notices. It provides important information to employers and carriers about the necessary insurance coverage and accident reporting requirements. For injured workers, it provides procedures for the claim filing and review process and information on the level and extent of benefits provided under the workers’ compensation law.

Another example of advanced technological support to agency participants is our COURTS on-line program, which is a secure web application where subscribers can access their case files, prior award information, scheduling and hearing dispositions and electronically file and receive legal pleadings. This program has become an indispensable tool for case and legal document management for thousands of subscribers representing law firms and insurance carriers doing business with the Division.
