NOTICE
OF PROPOSED RULES
|
|
Date
of Proposal:
September 8, 2005
Proposal Number:
PRN 2005-359
Proposal Description:
The proposed rule would authorize a new
type of wagering on thoroughbred horse
racing known as the “Group Bet.”
The Group Bet places a field of horses
into three different categories. One horse
is designated the “non-group horse”
and the remaining horses are divided into
two groups. The Group Bet is essentially
a form of “win bet” on every
horse in a chosen group. Having wagered
on a specific group – and assuming
one horse in that group wins the race
-- a bettor need not be concerned with
which specific horse won, because the
payout will be the same. If the non-group
horse wins, or any horse in the group
the bettor did not select wins, the bettor
loses. The proposed rule appears in the
October 3, 2005 edition of the New Jersey
Register.
