State Police Seeking Public’s Assistance with Homicide Investigation

Lawrence Township, Cumberland County, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with the homicide investigation of Tonya Cook, 32, of Vineland, N.J., whose burned and dismembered remains were discovered off of Banks Road in the area of Lummistown Road in the township.

On Monday, July 2, at 8:17 a.m., troopers from Troop “A” Port Norris Station responded to the area after a passerby discovered the remains.  Investigators determined that the victim’s body was dismembered and burned.  The Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim.

Tonya Cook is known to have ties throughout Cumberland County.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Port Norris Station at (856) 785-0036.  Anonymous tips are welcome.  This case is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police Homicide South Unit, Troop “A” Criminal Investigations Office, and the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.
