State Police Seek the Public’s Assistance with Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Investigation

Paterson, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigations Unit is seeking the public’s assistance with a hit-and-run crash investigation that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

On Sunday, July 15, at approximately 7:44 p.m., an unidentified vehicle was traveling on Interstate 80 eastbound in Paterson City, Passaic County.  In the area of milepost 58.9, the vehicle struck an unidentified man who was in the center lane of travel.  After the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by a Honda Civic.  The victim sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, but the driver of the initial vehicle departed after the crash.
