New Jersey Sends Additional Personnel to Areas Affected by Hurricane Florence

West Trenton, N.J. - Sixteen additional members of New Jersey Task Force One (NJ-TF1) were deployed late last night at the request of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). New Jersey is also sending 6 rescue boats and 5 vehicles to assist the rescue efforts. They are currently enroute to a staging area in Morganton, North Carolina.

On Monday, September 10, our 85-member NJ-TF1 team departed New Jersey and is currently staging in Kinston, North Carolina.  Although downgraded to a Tropical Depression, Florence continues to wreak havoc on both North and South Carolina with flash floods and swollen rivers not expected to crest until Tuesday. The team remains poised and ready for their next mission.

An additional NJ-TF1 team member has been deployed to Columbia, South Carolina to provide assistance to rescue personnel in the area.  He will work as part of the FEMA Incident Support Team that manages the search and rescue teams operating in the affected locations.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the citizens and first responders in North and South Carolina.
