Execution of Warrants Ends in Arrest of Seven
Union City, NJ - New Jersey State Police Superintendent Rick Fuentes and Union City Police
Chief Charles Everett today announced the arrest of 7 individuals wanted in connection with local gang activity. The arrests were the culmination of a cooperative investigation targeting the members of two street gangs, Dominicans Don't Play (DDP) and Dominicans Taking Charge (DTC).
Arrested were: Gilberto Rivas, 21, Union City; Frederic DeLeon, 20, Union City; Miguel Grullon,
19, North Bergen; and Juan C. Fernandez, 22, North Bergen, alleged members of the Dominicans Don't Play (DDP). Three other subjects, all juveniles from Union City were also arrested and are alleged associates of the Dominicans Taking Charge (DTC).
Rivas, DeLeon, Grullon, and the three juveniles were arrested and charged with aggravated assault,
possession of weapons for unlawful purposes, and conspiracy. Fernandez was arrested on a criminal warrant issued by the Union City Municipal Court.
The three adults were lodged in the Hudson County Jail, Rivas in default of $500,000 cash bail, DeLeon
in default of $250,000 cash bail, and Grullon in default of $100,00 cash bail. The three juveniles were remanded to the Hudson County Juvenile Detention Center pending a hearing in Family Court. Fernandez remains in the custody of the Union City Police Department.
Assisting in the arrests were the New Jersey State Police Street Gang Unit, New Jersey State Police-Troop "B" T.E.A.M.S Unit, the State Police K-9 Unit, Jersey City Police Department, Hoboken Police Department, New Jersey State Department of Corrections, and the New Jersey State Department of Parole.
