BRIDGETON TROOPERS APPREHEND SUSPECTS
IN DRIVE BY SHOOTING
Bridgeton - The exhaustive investigation into the
July 25, drive by shooting at a King Drive, Fairfield Township
residence paid dividends when State Troopers arrested a Bridgeton
man and a local juvenile in connection with the incident.
State Police Detectives, uniformed personnel, Technical Emergency and Missions
Specialists' (T.E.A.M.S-South) and the New Jersey State Police Canine Unit executed a search warrant at 105 Mill Street, Bridgeton City, NJ and an arrest warrant at 103 Mill Street, Bridgeton City at 4:30 AM on July 28. The warrant executions culminated with the arrest of two subjects on Attempted Murder and Weapons Offenses.
Arrested were Tony I. Byers, 19, 105 Mill Street, Bridgeton and a Bridgeton juvenile.
The search of Byers' residence revealed evidence connecting him to the crime. The search also revealed marijuana valued at $350.00. Byers' and the juvenile when interviewed implicated a third juvenile suspect.
Byers' later surrendered a .45 caliber, semi-automatic handgun, believed to have been used in the commission of the shooting.
Byers' was lodged in the Cumberland County Jail in default of $100,000.00 cash bail.
The two juveniles were lodged in the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center
pending juvenile hearings.
