The 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 42nd Infantry Division fights and defeats enemy forces in ground combat. It is one of three 'maneuver' or 'combat' brigades within the 42nd Division. The units comprising the 44th Brigade consist of Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery battalions. The 44th Brigade can deploy and fight as an independent force with the addition of logistical support units. The Brigade Headquarters is located in Fort Dix, Burlington County, New Jersey. Organization
The 44th Brigade has two light infantry battalions, one artillery battalion, one cavalry squadron, one engineer battalion, and one support battalion. These units are equipped with Improved TOW missile vehicles and self-propelled howitzers.

1st Battalion, 114th Infantry (1-114 INF)
The 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry has its headquarters in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey. It has four light infantry companies, and a headquarters company. Its anti-tank capabilities employ the M-901 Improved TOW vehicle to defeat enemy armor. The battalion also has a mortar platoon, scout platoon, medical section, maintenance platoons, and support personnel. Infantry companies are located in Freehold, Woodstown, Mount Holly, Blackwood, and Woodbury.

2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry (2-113 INF)
The 2nd Battalion, 113th Infantry makes its headquarters in Riverdale, Morris County, New Jersey. It traces its lineage back to the Revolutionary War. This light infantry battalion has three companies of infantry and a headquarters company. Units are located in Newark, Jersey City, and Woodbridge, as well as Riverdale.

3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery (3-112 FA)
The 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery has its headquarters in Morristown, Morris County, New Jersey. The primary weapon system is the M109A5 (155mm) self-propelled howitzer. The battalion has four subordinate units (called batteries) located in Morristown, Toms River, Flemington and a fire support detachment located in Freehold. The field artillery can fire projectiles over 18 miles with pinpoint accuracy in supporting Brigade operations. In addition to cannoneers, the battalion has positions for surveyors, fire support, fire direction, cooks, ammunition, personnel, mechanics, supply, drivers, and medics.

1st Squadron, 102nd Cavalry (1-102 CAV)
The 1st Squadron, 102nd Cavalry uses modern combat equipment in the place of horses, but it still comes to the rescue when needed. It has its headquarters in Westfield, New Jersey and units throughout Northern New Jersey. Cavalry troops are in West Orange, Dover, and Hackettstown.
