Notice of Proposed Rule Adoption
N.J.A.C. 5A:3, New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14B-5.1c, the rules established within N.J.A.C. 5A:3 are scheduled to expire on March 7, 2018. The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has reviewed these rules and has determined that all of the rules continue to be necessary, reasonable and proper for the purpose for which they were originally promulgated, and, therefore, proposes to readopt these rules without change.
The purpose of this chapter is to set forth the rules that outline, identify and establish the eligibility and residency requirements for the award of the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal.
The intent of N.J.A.C. 5A:6 is to establish the procedures, criteria and residency requirements for the State of New Jersey to recognize and commemorate the distinguished military service of its sons and daughters through the awarding of the New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal. The adoption of these rules will have a positive social impact upon the New Jersey Veteran population and upon the families of Veterans.
As the Department has provided a 60-day comment period on this notice of proposal, this notice is excepted from the rulemaking calendar requirements, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 1:30-3.3(a)5.
