  • The Adjutant General holds Officer Call at the Trenton War Memorial.

  • National Guard Association of New Jersey holds annual convention in Atlantic City.
  • 177th deploys to Combat Readiness Training Center, Alpena, Mich.

    May

  • TAG and Korean War veterans return to Korea to commemorate 50th anniversary of the conflict.
  • Memorial Day ceremony held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

    June

  • New Jersey Air National Guard Command Chief Master Sgt. John Mastrogiovanni takes over from Command Chief Master Sgt. Charles Adamson at McGuire Air Force Base ceremony.
  • B Company, 126th Aviation deploys to Fort A. P. Hill, Va.
  • 1-150th Aviation Battalion deploys to Fort Dix.

  • Elements of the New Jersey Air and Army National Guard, as well as the Naval Militia deploy for OPSAIL 2000.

  • More than 4,000 NJNG attend Annual Training at Fort Drum.
  • An F-16C from the 177th Fighter Wing crashes in the Atlantic. Pilot Maj. David Haar ejects after safely maneuvering his jet away from the populated Atlantic City area.
  • Sussex and Morris Counties flooded, elements of the NJARNG are called to State Active Duty.
  • Miss America, Ms. Heather Renee French, dedicates Veterans Haven in Ancora.
  • The 15th New Jersey Regiment donates Civil War battle flag to NJDMAVA.

    September

  • The National Guard Association of the United States holds national convention at Atlantic City, the first time since 1958.

    October

  • 177th Fighter Wing completes two-year conversion from air sovereignity to general purpose mission in preparation for Aerospace Expeditionary Force deployment.
  • Deputy Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Holsey Moorman retires. Enlisted Association of the National Guard of New Jersey holds 28th annual conference in Atlantic City.
  • Sea Girt hosts Military Review.
  • Menlo Park Memorial Veterans Home dedicated.
  • The New Jersey Department of Military and Veteran Affairs give World War II veterans their high school diplomas.

    November

  • 162 members of the 177th Fighter Wing deploy to Operation Southern Watch in Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia.
  • 108th Air Refueling Wing dedicates operations building, a hangar, and a new ramp.
  • The New Jersey Korean War Memorial in Atlantic City is dedicated.

    December

  • All 177th Fighter Wing personnel return safely from Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.
