First African American VC
On Feb. 5, Lt. Col. Anthony M. La Sure became the 177th Fighter Wing's new Vice Commander and also the first African-American to serve as second in command of a New Jersey Air National Guard unit. Prior to becoming Vice Commander, Lt. Col. La Sure was the 177th's Inspector General. Lt. Col. La Sure is a command pilot with more than 2,200 flying hours. Photo by Tech. Sgt. Mark Olsen, 177FW/PA.

Can You See Me Now
Capt. Stephen McKenzie, 250th Brigade Support Battalion, tests out the night version of Fatal Vision goggles. This particular version of the goggles blurs vision, to simulate the effects of being drunk at night. The demonstration was part of the annual Army Safety Day conducted by the Army National Guard Safety Office and was held at the Joint Training and Training Development Center, Fort Dix on Jan. 28.
