State Statutes

Most statutes that pertain to motor vehicle laws and the Motor Vehicle Commission are in Title 39 of the New Jersey States Annotated. Title 2A and Title 2C contain certain criminal laws that pertain to drivers and motor vehicles. Title 17 contains laws relating to the motor vehicle violations surcharge system and certain other insurance laws that pertain to drivers and motor vehicles. Title 48 contains certain passenger transportation laws and Title 12 contains laws relating to boating and boats.

State Regulations

Most regulations that relate to the Motor Vehicle Commission, motor vehicles, driving, the motor vehicle surcharge system, boats, and boating are in Title 13 of the Administrative Code. Some insurance regulations that pertain to motor vehicle-related issues like insurance cards are located in Title 11 and Title 16 contains certain passenger transportation regulations.
