New Emergency Management Website Helps Families & Businesses Prepare
www.nj.gov/njoem now live with easy-to-use emergency preparedness information

( WEST TRENTON ) -Colonel Rick Fuentes today announced the launch of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) website, www.nj.gov/njoem, which has been expanded and enhanced with easy-to-use emergency preparedness information for individuals, families and businesses.

"The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management designed this website as a one-stop destination for families and businesses," Fuentes said. "Every New Jersey family should bookmark and use this site."

Attorney General Zulima V. Farber said, "We have an important responsibility in state government to be as prepared as we possibly can for any and all emergencies. The new website emphasizes that commitment."

The NJOEM site's "Plan & Prepare" section includes easy-to-use instructions highlighting the three basic steps to all-hazards preparedness: "Get a Kit" of emergency supplies, "Make a Plan" for what your family will do during an emergency; and "Stay Informed" of possible threats.

The website also provides detailed information about evacuation routes, sheltering at home during an emergency, hazard mitigation and other NJOEM programs. There is easy access to National Weather Service forecasts for the region, and information on planning for specific incidents such as hurricanes, radiological emergencies or terrorist events.

The site draws on the expertise of NJOEM planners, and on information from the American Red Cross, Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Federal Emergency Management Agency, National Weather Service, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and other sources.
