FY 2020 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grants

FEMA Announces 2020 FMA and BRIC Grants

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is announcing $660 million in funding is available through two Fiscal Year 2020 Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA) grant programs: $500 million is available in the new Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and $160 million is available in Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA). These competitive grant programs assist state, tribal and territorial governments to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damages.

Potential applicants can review the specifics of the FY20 FMA and BRIC programs in the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) which includes details such as eligibility, funding guidelines and evaluation criteria. The NOFO for FMA and BRIC is available online at https://www.fema.gov/grants/mitigation/fy2020-nofo and additional information is available at FEMA.gov.

Further information on these grant programs is available at http://www.fema.gov/hazard-mitigation-assistance and ready.nj.gov/mitigation.

We would like to remind you that complete applications for 2020 FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) and Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grants are due to NJOEM through FEMA Grants Outcome (GO) by COB November 30, 2020. NJOEM Mitigation Unit staff must review, revise and coordinate with other State agencies before submitting final complete application packages through the Attorney General's office prior to the January 29, 2021 FEMA deadline.
